Why we start with a consultation

Good aesthetic care starts with understanding the individual. At Perfectus Derma, every new patient begins with a consultation before we recommend a treatment.

A consultation gives us the time to understand your skin, your history and what you actually want. It gives you the time to ask questions, weigh your options and decide in your own time. Nothing is rushed.

Booking your consultation

You can book a consultation online in a couple of minutes, and current prices are listed on each treatment page.

When you arrive at our Soho clinic, inside UNTIL on Charing Cross Road, one of our nurses will welcome you. Bring a list of any medicines you take, note any previous treatments, and we encourage you to bring any questions you would like to discuss.

What we talk through

The first part of your consultation is a conversation. Your nurse will ask about:

  • The concerns that brought you in, and the result you are hoping for
  • Your skin history, including previous treatments and how your skin behaves
  • Your general health, medicines and allergies, so we can assess suitability
  • Your lifestyle and skincare, which shape what will realistically work

This matters because the right plan depends on the full picture, not just the concern you noticed in the mirror. It is also how we assess suitability. Some treatments may not be suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where particular medical conditions, medicines or other contraindications are present, and this is where we find that out. Every patient must be 18 or over.

MEICET MC10 facial and skin analysis

Talking is only half of it. We also look at your skin directly.

Where appropriate, MEICET MC10 facial and skin analysis provides additional information about the skin that can support our clinical assessment and treatment planning, including things that are hard to judge by eye. It can also give a useful baseline for reviewing changes over time.

It supports the clinician’s assessment rather than replacing it, and it is not used to diagnose medical skin conditions.

Your personalised plan

Once we understand your skin, your nurse will talk you through an honest, personalised plan. It may involve a single treatment or, where appropriate, a staged plan over time depending on your concerns, goals and clinical assessment. Sometimes the honest answer is that a treatment you asked about is not right for you, and we will tell you so.

You will always understand what we are recommending, why, what it costs and what to expect, before you decide anything.

No pressure to proceed

A consultation is not a commitment. You are free to take your plan away, think it over and book when you are ready. The NHS advises patients to take their time over the decision and to expect a cooling-off period after a consultation rather than deciding on the spot, which is exactly how we work. You can read its guidance on whether a cosmetic procedure is right for you.

Some treatments may not be carried out on the same day as the initial consultation, depending on the treatment, prescribing requirements and individual clinical assessment.

If you decide the timing is not right, that is a completely reasonable outcome too.

Prescription treatments and face-to-face assessment

Where a treatment involves a prescription-only medicine, additional prescribing requirements apply.

NMC independent nurse and midwife prescribers must carry out and document a face-to-face clinical assessment before prescribing medicines used for elective non-surgical cosmetic procedures. This has applied since 1 June 2025, and the NMC is clear that remote assessment by telephone, email, online, video or through a third party is not appropriate for this purpose. It forms an important part of assessing suitability, discussing risks and benefits and making an appropriate prescribing decision. The requirement is set out in the NMC’s information for prescribers.

Aftercare and your review

Care does not end when the treatment does. Appropriate aftercare forms part of every treatment pathway, with follow-up and review arranged where clinically appropriate. Your nurse will give you clear aftercare guidance, and a review is your chance to check in, discuss any concerns and assess how the treated area is settling.

That continuity, from initial consultation through treatment and appropriate follow-up, is central to our nurse-led approach at Perfectus Derma.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a consultation before treatment at Perfectus Derma?

Every new patient at Perfectus Derma starts with a consultation so that we can understand their concerns, medical history, goals and suitability before recommending treatment. It also gives you time to ask questions and decide in your own time. Where a prescription medicine is involved, further prescribing requirements apply.

What does a consultation include?

An unhurried conversation about your concerns and goals, a review of your skin history, general health and current skincare, and a face-to-face skin assessment. Where appropriate, MEICET MC10 facial analysis provides additional information to support that assessment. You leave with an honest, personalised plan. Current prices are on each treatment page.

Will I be pressured to book treatment on the day?

No. A consultation is not a commitment, and you are free to take your plan away and decide later. Some treatments may not be carried out on the same day as the initial consultation, depending on the treatment, prescribing requirements and individual clinical assessment.

Who will carry out my consultation?

One of our registered nurses. Perfectus Derma is a nurse-led clinic and our clinical team are Aesthetic Nurse Practitioners. You can verify any nurse's registration yourself on the NMC public register before you visit, and you are welcome to ask for their PIN.
