The short answer

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are smooth gels of hyaluronic acid, a molecule your skin already makes to hold water and keep tissue supported. As we age the face naturally loses volume, which changes its structure and symmetry: cheeks flatten, temples hollow and lines deepen either side of the mouth. Placed with a needle or a blunt-tipped cannula, filler helps support the areas where that volume has reduced, though results vary and no filler replaces all lost volume in every patient.

We use premium hyaluronic acid dermal fillers sourced through authorised UK pharmacies. The specific product is selected according to the treatment area, your facial anatomy and the characteristics required to achieve the most natural-looking result. For lips, start with our dedicated Lip Fillers page.

Patient journey

What to expect from dermal fillers

Consultation & preparation

Avoid alcohol and, where medically appropriate, blood-thinning supplements such as fish oil for 24 to 48 hours before treatment to reduce bruising. Come makeup-free if you can, and mention any dental work planned within 2 weeks of a lip or lower-face appointment. New patients book a consultation first.

During treatment

Aftercare

Expect localised swelling, redness and sometimes bruising for 24 to 48 hours. Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, makeup over the injection points and firm pressure on the area for 24 hours, and skip facials, peels and microneedling for 2 weeks. A review is included where it is clinically indicated for your treatment.

FAQs

How long do dermal fillers last?

It depends on where the filler is placed and on you. Mobile areas such as the mouth break filler down faster than structural areas like the chin or jawline, and your metabolism, activity levels and lifestyle all play a part. Individual results vary, which is why longevity is discussed for your specific plan.

Which dermal fillers do you use?

We use premium hyaluronic acid fillers sourced through authorised UK pharmacies, in a range of textures: a softer gel for fine perioral lines, a firmer one where chin or jawline structure is needed. Your nurse selects the product at consultation based on the area, your anatomy and the result you want.

Do dermal filler injections hurt?

There is some discomfort, but it is well managed. Numbing cream is applied as standard, and for certain treatments a regional nerve block can be added at additional cost. Some areas are treated with a blunt-tipped cannula, which most patients find gentler.

What if I do not like the result?

Small refinements can be made at your review. If you ever want a result reduced or removed, hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved by a prescriber using hyaluronidase where that is clinically appropriate. Dissolving is a separate procedure with its own risks, assessed and planned at a face-to-face appointment.

Will dermal fillers look natural?

Our aim is always facial balance: supporting your natural structure and enhancing your own features rather than adding more than your face can carry. Every treatment is individually planned following a detailed consultation, dosed conservatively and built over more than one visit where that serves you better.
