The short answer
What are anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections use a purified protein to temporarily relax the muscles responsible for expression lines. They are commonly used to soften frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet while maintaining natural facial movement. At Perfectus Derma Aesthetics every treatment is individually planned and carried out by experienced Aesthetic Nurse Practitioners following a full clinical assessment.

What to expect from anti-wrinkle treatment
Consultation & preparation
Come with clean, makeup-free skin where possible and avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment. Tell your nurse about any medicines, supplements or previous treatments at your consultation. New patients book a consultation first: some treatments are not carried out on the same day.
During treatment
Aftercare
Stay upright for 4 hours and avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas on the day. Limit strenuous exercise, saunas and facials for 12 to 24 hours. The result builds over days, with a review at 2 weeks to check it and fine-tune if needed.

FAQ
Anti-wrinkle treatment
FAQs
How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?
Most patients see their result hold for 3 to 4 months, though this varies. How quickly the effect fades depends on the area treated, how strong those muscles are, your metabolism and how consistently you have been treated before. Individual results vary, and we plan your maintenance around what we see at your review.
Can anti-wrinkle injections help with bruxism and jaw clenching?
Yes. Bruxism, the medical name for jaw clenching and teeth grinding, responds well to carefully placed injections that relax the masseter muscle at the angle of the jaw. Over time this can ease tension, help protect your teeth and soften a squared jawline. Suitability is assessed at your face-to-face consultation.
Do anti-wrinkle injections treat excessive sweating?
They do. Excessive sweating, known medically as hyperhidrosis, can be treated at the underarms, hands or feet by reducing the signals that drive the sweat glands. Many patients stay drier for months from a single session, and annual two-session packages are available. Individual results vary.
Do anti-wrinkle injections hurt?
Very little. We use ultra fine needles, and most patients describe a series of small scratches rather than pain. The treatment takes around 30 minutes, and you can go straight back to your day afterwards, avoiding strenuous exercise for the first 12 to 24 hours.
Will I still look like me?
Yes, that is the point. We map your facial movement first, then dose so the muscles that crease your skin relax while your natural expression stays. The aim is to look healthier and well rested, not done. If anything needs adjusting, your 2-week review appointment is included in the price.
Is there any downtime?
Little to none. You may see small raised bumps at the injection points for 20 to 30 minutes and occasionally a pinpoint bruise. Keep upright for 4 hours, skip strenuous exercise, saunas and facials for 12 to 24 hours, and avoid rubbing the treated areas on the first day.
