Regenerative Aesthetics

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are a regenerative injectable of purified DNA fragments that support your skin's own repair, boosting hydration, elasticity and quality across the face, under-eye area, neck and hands.

Polynucleotide skin regeneration treatment with a nurse at Perfectus Derma, Soho

The short answer

What this treatment is

Polynucleotides have emerged as a regenerative treatment that works with your skin rather than masking concerns. At Perfectus Derma in Soho, our nurses use PhilArt by Croma Pharma and Plinest by DermaFocus: ethically sourced, purified DNA fragments derived from salmon. Once injected, they support the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins that keep skin firm and supple, and they help repair and renew tissue at a cellular level. This makes polynucleotides a considered choice for improving texture, hydration and overall vitality, and they are especially valued for the delicate under-eye area. Most people have a course of 2 to 3 sessions spaced a few weeks apart, then maintain results across the year.

Patient journey

What to expect

Consultation & preparation

Avoid ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours before treatment to reduce bruising. Come with clean skin and no make-up on the area. Tell your nurse about any fish allergy or recent skin treatments at your consultation.

During treatment

Aftercare

Small lumps and redness settle within 12 to 72 hours. Avoid sweating, heavy exercise, saunas and harsh skincare for a few days so the product absorbs fully. Keep the skin clean and protected with SPF, and book any further sessions in your course as planned.

Common
questions

Are polynucleotides the same as dermal filler?

No. Dermal filler adds volume and shape by sitting in the tissue, while polynucleotides work differently: they signal your own skin to produce more collagen and elastin and to repair itself. Filler restores structure, polynucleotides improve quality. Many people combine both, and your nurse will advise which suits your goals.

How many sessions of polynucleotides will I need?

Most people start with a course of 2 to 3 sessions spaced a few weeks apart, then maintain their results with a yearly appointment. The exact plan depends on the area treated and your skin, so your nurse confirms the right number at your consultation. Results build gradually over the following weeks.

Is there any downtime after polynucleotides?

Downtime is minimal. You can expect small lumps and some localised redness at the injection points, which usually subside within 12 to 72 hours. Numbing cream keeps the treatment comfortable. We suggest avoiding sweating, heavy exercise and harsh skincare for a few days afterwards so the product absorbs fully and settles well.

What are polynucleotides made from?

We use PhilArt by Croma Pharma and Plinest by DermaFocus, both ethically sourced and derived from purified salmon DNA fragments. All products in our clinic come from authorised UK pharmacies. If you have a fish allergy, tell your nurse at consultation, as this is assessed carefully before any treatment goes ahead.

How long do the results last?

After a course of three sessions, most people enjoy improvements for around 3 to 6 months, with many choosing a yearly maintenance treatment to sustain the effect. Because polynucleotides work by supporting your own skin, results appear natural and build over time. Individual results vary from person to person.
