Lip filler treatment with an NMC-registered nurse at Perfectus Derma, Soho

The short answer

What this treatment is

Great lip filler is quiet. Our nurses work with Stylage Special Lips and Stylage Lips Plus, soft hyaluronic acid gels made for the lips, to define your border, refine shape and restore volume that time has thinned. The starting point is your own lip: its proportions, how it moves when you speak and smile, and how it sits against your chin and profile. Treatment takes around 60 minutes including numbing cream, costs £300 for 1ml, and builds gradually where a subtle first step serves you better. The results our patients love are subtle, soft and beautifully balanced. If it is your first visit, everything begins with a face-to-face consultation.

Patient journey

What to expect

Consultation & preparation

Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment and, where medically appropriate, pause blood-thinning supplements such as fish oil to reduce bruising. Tell your nurse at consultation if you get cold sores, as lip treatment can trigger a flare and this may affect timing. Keep dental work at least 2 weeks away from your appointment where possible.

During treatment

Aftercare

Swelling is part of lip filler and usually peaks the morning after treatment before settling over 24 to 48 hours. Avoid makeup on the lips, strenuous exercise, alcohol and very hot drinks for 24 hours, and try not to press or massage your lips. Judge your final shape at 2 weeks, once everything has settled.

Common
questions

How much does lip filler cost?

Lip augmentation with 1ml of Stylage Special Lips or Lips Plus is £300, including numbing cream, your treatment session of around 60 minutes and aftercare guidance. If a smaller, more gradual approach suits your lips, your nurse will discuss options and costs openly at your face-to-face consultation before anything is booked.

How long does lip filler last?

Most lip filler lasts 6 to 12 months. The lips move constantly, so they break hyaluronic acid down faster than stiller areas such as the chin, which is why filler elsewhere can last up to 18 months. Regular reviews keep your result topped up gradually. Duration varies from individual to individual.

Does lip filler hurt?

The lips are sensitive, so we take comfort seriously. Numbing cream is applied and given time to work before any injection, and for certain treatments a regional nerve block can be added at additional cost. Most patients describe pressure and brief stings rather than real pain, and the appointment is never rushed.

Will my lips look obviously done?

Not with us. We follow your natural border, keep your lip ratio intact and add volume in conservative steps, reviewing once swelling has settled before considering more. Swelling in the first 48 hours is normal and temporary, so judge nothing until it passes. If you ever want less, filler can be dissolved.

Can lip filler be dissolved?

Yes. Because we use hyaluronic acid fillers, a prescriber can dissolve them with hyaluronidase if you change your mind or if previous work needs correcting before we start again. Elective filler dissolving is £300 and is often done before re-treatment, so new filler starts from the best possible foundation.
