Skin Boosters

Skin boosters are injectable treatments designed to improve hydration, skin quality and radiance without adding volume, with our Aesthetic Nurse Practitioners recommending the most appropriate treatment from a carefully selected range following a comprehensive face-to-face consultation.

The short answer

What are skin boosters?

Skin boosters hydrate and revitalise the skin from within. Unlike dermal fillers, which add volume and contour, boosters spread through the skin to improve hydration, elasticity and that healthy, well-rested glow.

At Perfectus Derma Aesthetics in Soho our nurses work with one of the widest booster ranges in central London: Jalupro Young Eye, Stylage Hydro and HydroMax, Juvederm Volite, Profhilo, Redensity 1, Skinvive and Baby Glow. Each has different indications, and the right one for you depends on whether we are working on hydration, skin quality, elasticity, fine lines, the under-eye area, the neck and décolletage or overall skin health.

That is why there is no single recommended booster here. Which one suits you is decided at your face-to-face consultation after your skin has been assessed, and a course is often recommended where the aim is a lasting change in skin quality.

Patient journey

What to expect from skin boosters

Consultation & preparation

Avoid ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours before treatment to reduce bruising. Arrive with clean, make-up-free skin. Let your nurse know about any allergies or recent injectable treatments at your consultation.

During treatment

Aftercare

Small bumps and redness usually settle within 12 to 24 hours. Avoid make-up, strenuous exercise, saunas and harsh skincare for the rest of the day, and keep the skin hydrated and protected with SPF. Book any further sessions in your course as recommended.

Skin booster
FAQs

Which skin booster is right for me?

That is the question your consultation answers. Each booster in our range has different indications: some target hydration, others skin quality, elasticity, fine lines or the under-eye area specifically. Your nurse assesses your skin, discusses what you want to change, and recommends from there rather than starting with a product.

Can skin boosters be combined with other treatments?

Often, yes. Skin boosters sit comfortably alongside polynucleotides, microneedling, chemical peels and medical-grade skincare, and many patients have them as one part of a wider plan. Sequencing matters, so your nurse will set out the order and spacing that suits your skin at your consultation.

How often should maintenance treatments be performed?

Most patients return every 3 to 6 months, though it depends on the booster used, the area treated and how your skin responds. Some ranges are designed around a programme of two or three sessions followed by a longer gap. Your nurse gives you a realistic schedule for your own plan. Individual results vary.

What is the difference between skin boosters and dermal fillers?

Both use hyaluronic acid, but they work differently. Dermal fillers add volume and shape, such as fuller cheeks or a sharper jawline. Skin boosters spread through the skin to improve hydration, elasticity and glow, without changing your contours. Many people combine the two, and your nurse advises which suits your goals.

What is Baby Glow?

Baby Glow is our newest skin booster, designed to improve hydration, radiance and overall skin health. It combines hyaluronic acid, amino acids, antioxidants and vitamins in one treatment to leave the skin looking fresh and healthy. As with all our boosters, your nurse confirms it suits your skin at your consultation.

How many sessions of skin boosters do I need?

Most boosters work best as a short course, often two or three sessions spaced a few weeks apart, followed by top-ups through the year. The exact plan depends on the booster chosen and your skin. Your nurse sets out the recommended course at your consultation so you know what to expect.

Is there any downtime with skin boosters?

Downtime is minimal. You may notice small raised bumps at the injection points and some redness, which usually settle within 12 to 24 hours. Numbing cream keeps the treatment comfortable. Avoid make-up, heavy exercise and harsh skincare for the rest of the day, and protect your skin with SPF afterwards.
