Dark Circles & Under-Eye Hollows Treatment in Soho
Dark circles treatment in Soho, London, for under-eye shadows that rest and good concealer cannot shift. Gentle, nurse-led options, assessed carefully at a face-to-face consultation.
Overview
Understanding dark circles
Dark circles are areas of darkness or shadow beneath the eyes, caused by a mix of thin skin showing the vessels underneath, natural pigmentation and the hollowing that develops as under-eye volume reduces. Because the causes differ, so do the treatments: pigment behaves differently from shadow, and a hollow that casts shadow behaves differently again from puffiness. The under-eye skin is the thinnest on the face, at around 0.5 millimetres, which is why it shows tiredness, dehydration and ageing first. Understanding which combination you have is where good treatment starts.
We treat the under-eye area with particular care, because it forgives very little. Polynucleotide injections such as PhilArt and Plinest improve skin quality, thickness and crepiness over a short course, while the Jalupro Young Eye booster (£170) restores hydration and softens fine lines in the eye area. Where a true hollow casts the shadow, tear trough filler can restore gentle support. Both under-eye polynucleotides and tear trough filler are assessed carefully at a face-to-face consultation with one of our nurses in Soho, and we will say honestly if the area is not right to treat.
Why it happens
What causes dark circles?
- Naturally thin under-eye skin showing the blood vessels beneath
- Genetic pigmentation around the eyes, common in deeper skin tones
- Volume loss in the tear trough, so a hollow casts a permanent shadow
- Poor sleep, stress and dehydration making vessels more visible
- Allergies such as hay fever, and the eye rubbing that comes with them
- Sun exposure gradually deepening pigment in the eye area
Treatment approach
How we treat dark circles
Polynucleotides
£220 per sessionOur usual starting point for the under-eye area. PhilArt and Plinest polynucleotides improve skin thickness, elasticity and crepiness so vessels and shadow show through less, typically over 2 to 3 sessions spaced weeks apart at £220 per session or £600 for a course of 3. Suitability is always confirmed face to face first.

From £300Where a genuine tear trough hollow casts the shadow, a small amount of soft hyaluronic acid filler can restore support and stop light falling into the groove. This is an advanced area that we assess carefully at consultation, and we treat only when the anatomy is right; pricing is confirmed at consultation.

From £170The Jalupro Young Eye booster (£170) is designed for the delicate eye area, improving hydration, fine lines and skin quality with a gentle, gradual effect. It works well alone for mild darkness, or alongside polynucleotides when the skin needs more support.

Common
questions
Which dark circle treatment is right for me?
It depends on whether pigment, thin skin, hollowing or a mixture is behind your dark circles, and that is impossible to judge from a mirror alone. At your face-to-face consultation in Soho our nurses use 3D Visage facial analysis to assess the under-eye area properly, then recommend only what will actually help.
Is tear trough filler safe?
In the right hands and the right anatomy, yes, though it is one of the most technique-sensitive areas in aesthetics. Our nurses assess the tear trough carefully at consultation and will decline to treat if filler is not the right answer, for example where puffiness rather than hollowness dominates. Honest assessment protects your result.
What do polynucleotides do under the eyes?
Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments that prompt the thin under-eye skin to repair itself: skin gradually becomes thicker, firmer and less crepey, so vessels and shadow show through less. A course of 2 to 3 sessions spaced weeks apart is typical, with improvement building over the following weeks. Individual results vary.
Can dark circles be removed permanently?
Honestly, no. Genetic pigment and naturally thin skin can be improved and managed, not erased, and results from any treatment soften over time. What we can do is reduce the shadow meaningfully, strengthen the skin and keep it that way with sensible maintenance. We would rather promise less and deliver it.
When should I see a GP about dark circles?
Dark circles that develop slowly over months or years are almost always cosmetic rather than medical. See your GP first if you notice sudden swelling, pain, redness or a change affecting one eye only, or if dark circles arrive with other new symptoms. Once anything medical is ruled out, we are happy to help.
